Sophie
Sophie has a 2:1 degree in sociology from Lancaster University and has been teaching A-level and GCSE sociology since 2002. Her teaching career began in a secondary school in Blackpool. It progressed as subject leader at an outstanding sixth-form college, Esher, and head of the social sciences department at one of the largest FE colleges in England, Richmond-upon-Thames College. From 2016-2020 Sophie was leading the sociology department at Sussex Coast College before founding Logos Tutoring. Over the last ten years Sophie has been an examiner for the AQA at AS and A2 level and has run many revision courses.
Paul
Having read modern history at Oxford University (1982-1985) before spending a few years working for a Japanese bank in the City, Paul completed his MA and then Ph.D. in philosophy at King’s College London (2001). He has been teaching A-level, IB and GCSE philosophy and RS since 2000 when he joined Richmond-upon-Thames College. While at RUTC Paul was programme manager of the philosophy area and, along with his philosophy colleagues, co-founded and edited the Richmond of Philosophy. From 2014-2017 Paul was subject leader of philosophy and RS at Bexhill College, a leading sixth form college on the Sussex coast. In 2017 he became head of department at the Hollyfield School and Sixth Form Centre in South West London, leaving in 2020 to teach at Kingston Grammar School. Paul has been an examiner for the AQA and provided many revision courses and Oxbridge interview practice sessions. As well as teaching, Paul has written a book on social groups, The Reality of Social Groups, and a number of papers and contributions to books mainly on social groups with the occasional piece on divine nature.
